Knowledge Graph

Explore relationships between characters, conversations, and lore in your project

Knowledge Graph

The knowledge graph is a project-level view of how different elements of your narrative connect. It automatically maps characters, conversations, and lore, along with the relationships between them.

Knowledge Graph Example

Use it to answer questions like:

  • Are these characters ever in a conversation together?
  • How is a lore item referenced across the project?
  • How many times is a given character mentioned?

Automatic indexing

The Knowledge Graph updates automatically to reflect your changes. See How indexing works for details.

Opening the knowledge graph

  1. Open a project in Skald.
  2. Select Knowledge Graph in the project navigation.

The graph is built from your project content and updates in the background as you edit conversations, characters, and lore.

What you will see

  • A canvas with nodes for each entity and edges for each relationship.
  • A filter panel to show or hide node and edge types.
  • A sidebar with details for the selected node or edge.

Automatic indexing

When nodes or edges are selected, you can navigate to the particular instances by clicking the icon.

Missing entities

If you are missing a character or some lore, make sure they mention other characters or lore. Otherwise, they will have no "relationships" and thus not appear in the knowledge graph.
